An oil on board painting by Robert Clarkson. Clarkson lived in Huggate, Pocklington, and Scarborough. He was born in 1853, and died 1924. He is best known for his landscapes in oils. He studied at York School of Art, and at RA schools, exhibiting widely throughout the country including the RA.This image is signed and also dated (1879) to the right of the rose stem. Framed in a lovely period swept frame.
