“Edinburgh Exhibition – Souvenir” of Holyrood Palace, woven in the Exhibition by WH Grant & Co. Godden has much detail relating to Grant in his reference book. This, and the accompanying image of “Edinburgh Castle” also available on the site are not preciseley listed. Both images are included as postcards, but these souvenirs are not so, being more conventional Stevengraph sizes with printed mounts. They were woven on the spot, and not sold afterwards, and the advertising label on the back is interesting as it indicates that many images were available in both formats. The numbers don’t accord with anything in the Godden reference either. From all this we can conclude that these are unlisted in this form and unique to the Exhibition. They are extremely rare.
