“See Saw Margery Daw” (CL No 268) dated 1858. This is an odd print. There is nothing particularly appealing about the subject, and its alternative title of “Miss Mischief” or “Little Miss Mischief” hardly does it justice. Why a child should be playing with a raven is not clear, and the Courtney Lewis description of the girl’s expression apparently justifies the picture as “amusing”. It is quite a rare item, most probably because it was not that popular even when produced, but one has to assume that there has been something lost with the passage of time. Interesting due to its rather bizarre representation.
