Kate Greenaway illustrations from various titles of her beautifully illustrated books. This full page plate is from original (early or first edition) books that were beyond repair. Edmund Evans was the engraver and printer, but Kate Greenaway drew the pictures. Published by Geo Routledge & Sons, circa 1880 Framed to show either the verse or picture on the other side. Here we have a smaller image entitled “Apple Picking”, being 7 cms square. It is a classic Greenaway picture of two children picking apples, whilst dressed in typical Victorian clothes. It is framed in a simple gilt moulding with double mount. It appears more yellow than it is due to not using a flash which would reflect off the glass.
