“Columbus Leaving Spain” (STG 145) dated from 1893. This very fine silk is mounted in a later mount printed to the same specification as the original C4 mount with the additional credit under the image relating to the Columbian Exposition. Interestingly, the detail has missed out Chicago in this credit. There is no back label and it is framed in a gilt moulding as shown in the pictures. The first silks of this image lacked the date within the weaving and are very rare. This is an outstanding example of this silk and the mount enhances the picture. The Sprake reference lists it as a 5* rarity.
