"Cape Wilberforce, Australia" CL No 40 dated 1837. This image is from a painting by W Westall ARA, and is from the Cabinet of Paintings, print number 2. This is a sole print with no page details from the Cabinet book. It is an excellent image of this Cape which has been such a dangerous place to shipping. It was published in 1836-7 therefore was one of Baxter’s earlier works. It is never signed and was not reproduced by Le Blond. The Cape was discovered by Captain Flinders in the Investigator in 1802, so the image was created soon after the event. It is quite a rare print when on its own.
