There are now just 11 plates remaining of the original 22 from “The Gentleman’s Recreation” of 1686, the earliest known illustration of British Field sports. They are uncoloured copper plate prints of fine to good quality as the illustrations and detail show.
The list of available titles – History & Chronology, Heraldry, Grammar, Cosmography & Astrology, Pomona, Hunting Hare, Death of a Hare with Fleet Hounds, Fowling, Taking birds with a Low-bell, Ceres, Flora.
Blome was also a cartographer and it is said he did little of his own work, plagiarising other map-makers. However, these plates are beautifully produced with excellent detail, and would look wonderful framed up. The pictures give an example, and further images can be provided on request. Each plate is sold separately.
