A silkwork picture showing a young maiden, the picture titled “Where are you going to my pretty maid?”. Executed with a lovely detailed background and worked title too, the raised elements are coloured. It is in extremely good condition with no deterioration of the worked elements or the base silk. From the dress and style it will be either late Georgian or very early Victorian C1830. It is framed in a walnut period frame, and sealed against the ingress of dirt etc. A beautiful example of early embroidery.
