Captain Oakley Silhouette - Lady

A later watercolour signed cutout silhouette (C1920)  of a lady facing left by Capt Harry Lawrence Oakley (1882-1960). This artist was much admired by John Woodiwiss in his book “British Silhouettes” (page 86) who lamented his passing. He was a portraitist in scissor cutouts for both the public and recruiting posters as well as decorative items for London’s District Railway. His First World War cutout of the Duke of Windsor has become a classic.
